2 Areas Befouled by Raw Sewage Leaks

Two sewage leaks sent a total of almost 300 gallons of sludge into Mission Bay and La Jolla Shore areas Saturday.
A leak that began at Dana Landing about 9:30 a.m. was repaired by 12:30 p.m., but not before 240 gallons of sewage were released into Mission Bay Channel, said lifeguard Joe Barnett.
No areas were closed off because of the spill, except for the usual 50 feet north and south of the drain pipe, Barnett said.
About 3 p.m., an electrical problem at Pump Station 27 in La Jolla Shores caused a 50-gallon leak, which was contained in about an hour, said lifeguard John Odou.
