Mere hours before the year’s end, Ventura County notched its 52nd bank robbery of 1996, authorities said.
A lone bandit robbed a teller of an undisclosed amount of cash about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Camarillo Community Bank, 32111 W. Agoura Road in Westlake Village, said Gary Auer, supervising agent of the Ventura FBI office.
The man did not show a weapon, but passed a note to the teller warning her that he would shoot if he did not receive money, Auer said. The robber put the cash he received in a black zippered container before fleeing on foot.
The man is not suspected in any other bank robberies in the county, Auer said.
The robber was described as clean-shaven, about 30 years old, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 160 pounds with medium brown hair. He was wearing a blue denim jacket and dark pants.
