Nothing Going Right for Romar as Waves Lose to Austin Peay

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Maybe the New Year will be different for Lorenzo Romar. Certainly, 1996 was not kind to Pepperdine’s first-year coach.
The Waves lost another game Tuesday, this one to lowly Austin Peay, 58-54, in the consolation game of the Wisconsin Green Bay tournament.
Pepperdine is now 2-10, while Austin Peay improved to 3-9.
Joe Sibbitt scored 18 points on five three-point shots and three free throws in leading Austin Peay.
Bryan Hill scored 15 for Pepperdine. Tommie Price, Marc McDowell and Marques Johnson each had 10.
Pepperdine scored only 18 points in the first half and trailed, 23-18. The Waves made only six of 23 shots (26.1%) in the first half, but managed to make 15 of 23 (65.2%) in the second half.
Pepperdine was out-rebounded, 37-23.
Pepperdine’s new starting backcourt of Tezale Archie and Khary Hervey combined for only five points.
In the championship game, St. Joseph’s of Pennsylvania defeated host Wisconsin Green Bay, 64-59.
