San Jose 5, Calgary 1--Ulf Dahlen scored two third-period goals as the Sharks won at Calgary.
Colorado 4, Chicago 1--Sandis Ozolinsh and Keith Jones scored power-play goals 16 seconds apart midway through the second period for the Avalanche at Chicago.
Buffalo 6, New Jersey 5--The Sabres scored three goals in the first period to chase Devil goaltender Martin Brodeur, one of the NHL’s best, and went on to a victory at Buffalo.
Tampa Bay 4, N.Y. Rangers 2--Chris Gratton, Alex Selivanov and John Cullen had first-period goals for the Lightning at Tampa, Fla.
