The Pac-10 opener is almost a must-win for the Trojans, as is Saturday’s game against Washington State. After that, from Jan. 9-26, the Trojans face the toughest part of their schedule with games against Cal, Stanford, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA and No. 6 Cincinnati. USC needs victories against the Washington schools because it is possible it could lose all but one during that stretch. The Trojans have used six starting lineups because of injuries and suspensions. Freshman guard Danny Walker, who has started three games but has not played in the last two because of a sore knee, is expected to play against the Huskies. He is not likely to start, as Elias Ayuso and Ken Sims have played well in his absence. Washington is led by forward Mark Sanford, who scored 60 points in two games last season against USC. The Trojans didn’t have an athletic forward to guard him in those games, but may have one now in Rodrick Rhodes.
