Event Will Celebrate Renovation of Park

Residents are invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday to celebrate the installation of new equipment at Greer Park.
After a $300,000 renovation, the park now features two basketball courts, new playground equipment and wheelchair ramps. Rubberized asphalt also was installed around play equipment to help cushion children’s falls.
The project was funded through a public-private partnership between the city, the Westminster School District and Newport Beach builder Presley Homes. The park, at Yorkshire Lane and Melbourne Drive, is owned and maintained by the city.
The 11-acre park opened in 1966 and was named after Col. Jack Greer, who served as the city’s mayor from 1948 to 1952.
