The Easter Seals Society of Southern California is scheduled to open its first office in the Harbor area Monday. The San Pedro site will offer programs that will teach adults with mental and physical disabilities various skills so that they can live independently.
The office, at 732 W. 9th St., is opening in response to the need for convenient services for disabled people in the Harbor area. It will serve about 50 people who live in San Pedro, Wilmington, Carson and Long Beach.
Some of the skills that will be taught in the new office include cooking, cleaning, use of public transportation and how to access community resources such as libraries and parks.
