At Least His Attitude Is Winning for UCI

There is no joy in having a team beat you by 50 points or having a winless start. But when you carry yourself the way [UC Irvine men’s basketball] Coach Rod Baker does, one does start to wonder. The past 12 months have been highly chronicled after last year’s promising season.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I hate to lose and so does this coach, but there is more to the game than what appears on the scoreboard and in the paper the following day.

As far as I am concerned, this coach already has a winning season. He has shown us that everyday people show up for work, maintain their integrity, fight the good fight and go home when it’s over, to the thing that matters most, his family.
