UCI Swimmers Beat Northridge, San Luis Obispo

UC Irvine scored 309 points to beat Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cal State Northridge in nonconference men’s swimming at the Heritage Park Aquatic Complex in Irvine.
The Anteaters dominated the 1,000-yard freestyle, recording the top six times. Chris Robertson was a double winner, taking first in the 1,000 (10 minutes 9.57 seconds) and the 500 free (4:56.44).
Irvine’s Andy Coffman and teammate Ethan Yotter, a former Woodbridge High standout, battled it out in the 1,650-yard freestyle with Coffman touching out Yotter to win in 17:25.56. San Luis Obispo finished with 238 points and Northridge with 42.
The UC Irvine women finished fourth with 18 points. Ohio State won the women’s meet with 418.
In the Concordia men’s basketball tournament:
Concordia 98, Pacific Christian 73--Six players scored in double figures and Concordia (5-7) took a 29-point lead at halftime, holding Pacific Christian (2-15) to 32% shooting from the field in the first half. Frank Waldschmitt and Kalim Scott scored 12 points for the Eagles, who stopped a five-game losing streak.
In the UC San Diego men’s basketball tournament:
Southern California College 86, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 52--Terence Wilborn and Adam Dzierzynski each scored 14 points to lead SCC (9-4) into today’s final.
In the UC Santa Cruz men’s basketball tournament:
Lewis & Clark 87, Chapman 77--Chapman led, 36-35, at halftime, but Lewis & Clark shot 61% from the field in the second half to pull away. Brooks Meek scored 24 points and Chris Treadwell added 15 for Lewis & Clark (8-0). Greg Evans scored 14 points for Chapman (9-4), which has lost its last three games. In nonconference women’s basketball:
San Diego 64, CS Fullerton 63 (OT)--San Diego rallied from a 32-23 halftime deficit to tie the score, 57-57, at the end of regulation.
Kim Cram led all scorers with 20 points for the Titans (5-5). Teammate Dee Braxton added 12 points and eight rebounds. Susie Erpelding scored 18 points, including four of four three-pointers, for San Diego (4-7).
