Antelope Valley Rocks Citrus

The Antelope Valley College men’s basketball team keeps rolling.

Shaun Murray and John Burrell each scored 22 points, and Jonathan George added 19 to lead the Marauders to their ninth consecutive victory, a 107-60 rout of Citrus College on Friday night in Glendora.

Antelope Valley (17-3) scored 61 points in the second half. The Marauders haven’t lost since dropping an 81-78 decision to Riverside in the final of their tournament in December.

Trevor Beals had eight points and six assists, and Murray had 11 rebounds for Antelope Valley.

Cal Lutheran 70, Santa Cruz 60--Christian Dunbar scored 23 points and the Kingsmen (8-1) limited the Banana Slugs (4-5) to 23 second-half points in a first-round game of the UC Santa Cruz tournament.

Chris Whitfield scored 18 points and Bria Capella had 10 points and 14 rebounds for Cal Lutheran, which faces Lewis & Clark of Portland, Ore., in the final tonight.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Pepperdine 78, Coppin State 44--Sophomore forward Jenny Frank had 14 points and six rebounds, and senior center Lisa Siders contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Waves (8-4) at Pepperdine.

The Lady Eagles (0-6) were led by senior forward Lisa Briggs, who had 11 points and six rebounds.

All 11 of Pepperdine’s players scored. The Waves shot 46% (29 of 63). Siders and Frank each made six of eight shots.

Coppin State shot 29.6% (16 of 54).

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Rio Mesa 79, Hueneme 48--Scott Fujita scored 18 points for the Spartans (7-6, 1-0) in a Channel League opener at Rio Mesa.

Matt Ramirez had 22 points for the Vikings (3-7, 0-1).

Five Rio Mesa players scored in double figures.

Notre Dame 71, St. Monica 45--Sophomore center Chris Williams scored 15 points and John Murray added 12 for the Knights (10-5) at Notre Dame.

Jorge Piedra, Notre Dame’s starting quarterback in football, had 11 points, nine assists and seven steals.

Notre Dame opens Mission League play Monday night at Harvard-Westlake, the two-time defending league champion.

Camarillo 90, Malibu 64--Justin Beach scored 24 points and Joe Borchard added 21 for the Scorpions (8-4) at Camarillo.

Tyson Dexter had 19 points and Dorian Hill scored 17 for Malibu.

Hart 74, Littlerock 51--Bryan Kirk had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Indians (11-4) at Littlerock.

J.T. Stotts and Cory Johnson each added 13 points and five assists for Hart.

Crespi 66, Montclair Prep 58--Crespi broke a 44-44 tie after three quarters with a 6-0 run in a nonleague game at Montclair Prep.

Ron Quarterman led Crespi (4-7) with 16 points, including six free throws in eight attempts. Joe Vallone had 14 points for the Celts and Kevin McDonaugh had 13.

Kevin Bentley led Montclair Prep (6-5) with 19 points. He also had six steals. Rocky Steryo had 11 points but was only 3 of 19 shooting. Carlease Clark had five points and 12 assists.

Crespi outscored the Mounties, 17-4, in the first quarter.

Santa Paula 78, Fillmore 59--Josh Jimenez made six three-point baskets and scored 26 points for the Cardinals (7-2) at Fillmore.

Ruben Gutierrez had 16 points and Mario Galvez added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Flashes (4-9).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Grant 53, Sherman Oaks CES 32--Grant held Sherman Oaks CES to four points in the first half of a quarterfinal game of the Canoga Park tournament.

Angela Terry had nine points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks for Grant (8-4). Nakeisha Perkins had eight points and 15 rebounds.

BOYS’ SOCCER

La Puente 3, Burroughs 2--Miguel Meneses scored a goal in each of the Indians’ two matches in the Don Lugo tournament.

Earlier, Burroughs (8-4-1) defeated Bishop Amat, 3-0.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Quartz Hill 1, Bishop Montgomery 0--Shauna Murray scored an unassisted goal in the 15th minute and Christa Galier made 12 saves for Quartz Hill (3-5-1) in pool play in the San Marcos tournament.

Royal 3, Atascadero 3--Camille Butcher scored two goals for the Highlanders (5-3-1) in the San Marcos tournament.

Alemany 1, Bishop Diego 0--Stacey Brenner scored for the Indians (3-7-2) on an assist from Erin Granados 10 minutes into the second half in the San Marcos tournament.
