In the second round of the Ramona girls’ basketball tournament:
Brethren Christian 59, Ramona 42--Rachael McDonald scored 21 points for Brethren Christian (8-3).
In pool-play games at the Santiago tournament:
El Modena 51, Corona del Mar 37--Amanda Lopez scored 12 points for El Modena (6-3), which will play El Toro in the final.
El Toro 53, Canyon 52--El Toro trailed by four with 27 seconds left, but the Mendiola sisters each had a steal and a layup to give the Chargers (12-2) a victory. Giuliana Mendiola, who had 24 points, scored the game-winner with seven seconds remaining off an assist from her sister, Gioconda, who had 18 points.
Santiago 51, Fullerton 32--Stacey Trujillo scored 20 points, including four three-pointers for Santiago (7-5).
In the Savanna tournament::
Calvary Chapel 41, Santa Margarita 38--Whitney Hoover had 16 points and six steals for Calvary Chapel (11-5) in the third-place game.
In nonleague boys’ soccer:
Santa Ana 1, Century 1--Victor Guerrero scored for Century (2-5-3) and Santa Ana (7-0-2) got its goal from Israel Lazo.
Woodbridge 3, University 1--Shane Johnson and Ryan Orosz scored first-half goals and Yigall Kersenbaum added a goal in the second half for Woodbridge (7-2-2).
