Midway Airlines to Quit L.A. Market

Midway Airlines, a lower-fare carrier based in Durham, N.C., that caters to business people, is ending its sole flight out of LAX on Jan. 23. The 10:40 p.m. flight, which has been going to Raleigh-Durham International Airport via Las Vegas since June 1996, “never got the ridership to make it work,” said a Midway spokeswoman.

A total of 1,500 people, about one-fourth of them from Los Angeles, hold tickets for flights after Jan. 23, she said. They are being asked to contact Midway at (800) 446-4392 to make alternate flight arrangements.
