Hold Back the Dawn (AMC Friday at 11 p.m.). Underrated 1941 drama, penned by Billy Wilder and Charles Brackett, about a charming gigolo (Charles Boyer) who romances and marries old maid Olivia DeHavilland so he can gain entry into the U.S. Soap opera, but features an Oscar-nominated performance from DeHavilland. Paulette Goddard, Walter Abel and Rosemary DeCamp are equally wonderful in support. Mitchell Leisen directed.
