Dry, Cold and Windy Conditions Expected

The San Fernando Valley can say goodbye to rain for a few days, but it’s hello to chilly air from Canada and gusty winds, according to weather forecasters.

“It’s going to be cold,” said Stuart Seto, a spokesman for the National Weather Service in Oxnard. Overnight temperatures could drop into the 30s in some parts of the Valley this week.

The winds will be coming out of the north starting today, reaching speeds of 20 to 30 mph and higher in passes and canyons.

No rain is expected to fall on the Valley until Thursday at the earliest.

So far, 7.2 inches has been recorded in Los Angeles since July 1. That’s almost two inches above normal.

Weather watchers are expecting dry periods to bring the numbers back to normal by the end of the November-April rainy season.

“You have to take into account the whole season,” Seto said. “That’s the way it goes. We get a little bit ahead and then dry out for a while.”
