Seminar Focuses on Wills, Living Trusts

The local branch of the American Legion will host a free seminar on wills and living trusts Tuesday morning.

The seminar, which organizers said includes important information about estate planning, particularly for elderly and retired people, will begin at 9 a.m. at the Sun Valley American Legion Post No. 520, 9026 Sunland Blvd.

The seminar will be led by a representative of the American Assn. of Independent Paralegals, an Orange County-based group that began offering the free events seven years ago as a public service.

“We talk about the difference between a living trust and a will. We talk about probate, conservatorships and taxes,” said Adene Mosh, a spokeswoman for the AAIP.

“We are not attorneys and we do not give legal advice,” she added.

After the seminar, which is expected to last about two hours, the AAIP representative will answer questions from the audience.

“A lot of people need this information but they won’t go to an attorney to get it because it is too expensive. Here they can get it for free,” Mosh said.
