Two men were arrested Sunday in connection with a liquor store holdup in the unincorporated area of Athens in which a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was shot in the face and a clerk was pistol-whipped.
The wounded deputy was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The store clerk was treated at the scene and released.
The suspects were identified as Donald Brooks, 22, and Travon Brown, 19, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Stuart.
They were booked at the sheriff’s Lennox station on suspicion of attempted murder of a peace officer and were being held without bail, Stuart said.
