Clinton to Extend Gulf-Illness Panel

President Clinton wants a commission examining unexplained illnesses afflicting Gulf War veterans to continue its work after a final report is released this week. Clinton plans to announce the extension Tuesday, when the panel’s report is released, an administration official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. In its report, the panel calls for independent oversight of the Pentagon’s investigation into the ailments.
