Back Spasms Keep Knicks’ Childs Out

New York Knick point guard Chris Childs sat out Sunday night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks because of back spasms.
Childs, averaging 10.6 points and 6.0 assists, was injured in Saturday night’s 88-71 loss at Atlanta. He missed the first nine games of the season because of a broken leg.
Charlie Ward started in place of Childs and had 10 points and nine assists.
Also, New York rookie Dontae’ Jones, who has been on the injured list all season, was absent from the bench for a second night in a row--his punishment by Coach Jeff Van Gundy for breaking team rules.
