The Latina Center at Rancho Santiago College has won a $5,500 grant from Pacific Bell to expand its programs and services.
“The grant will assist our Latina Center in expanding its support,” said board president Enriqueta Ramos.
“The Latina Center was established to assist female Hispanics in breaking the barriers that contribute to a lack of academic success,” she said. Founded in 1993, the Latina Center aims also to enable Latina students to become self-sufficient.
Ramos said projects being considered for the grant money include establishing a video library with tapes focusing on single parenting, AIDS, cancer, domestic violence, gangs, child abuse and other topics.
