A Card of This Paper Would Make It a Valentine’s Day to Never Forget
- Share via
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, conservationist Mike Bugara has found a way to recycle elephant dung into paper. Inspired by the way ancient Egyptians made papyrus, Bugara collected the dung from farm fields raided by elephants, according to the Jan. 9 New Scientist.
The dung was boiled and crushed with a mortar and pestle into a porridge-like consistency. The fibers were then rolled out and left to dry in the sun. Bugara has now won backing from the Kenya Wildlife Service, which is using elephant dung invitation cards to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year.
