Roller Hockey Rink to Be Built at Park

The city has agreed to add an outdoor roller hockey rink to a 5-acre park that is scheduled to be built this spring at Tustin Ranch Road and Heritage Way.
“It’s not a full-blown competitive arena, but it will have lights, and kids can play pickup games and practice,” Mayor Tracy Wills Worley said. “We hope to build more courts on school facilities, but we feel this is at least a start.”
For several years, the city has discussed building a rink for the sport, but could not agree on a location. Many parents and young players had lobbied the city for a facility, Worley said.
Originally, basketball courts and a children’s play area had been planned for the section of the park, which is informally being called Heritage Park. The basketball courts will stay, and the play area will be moved to the nearby Laurel Park, Worley said.
