Rocket Hits Israel; Jets Retaliate in Lebanon

JERUSALEM — A rocket fired from southern Lebanon slammed into Israel on Wednesday, raising tensions along Israel’s northern border but causing no injuries, the Israeli army reported.
Israeli warplanes retaliated, twice raiding suspected targets of Islamic guerrillas in south Lebanon, Lebanese sources said.
The rocket attack was only the second in nine months since a cease-fire agreement in which Hezbollah guerrillas in southern Lebanon agreed to refrain from firing rockets into northern Israel.
No group immediately claimed responsibility. A spokesman for Hezbollah declined to comment.
Meanwhile, pro-Israeli militia sources in Lebanon said guerrillas killed one Israeli soldier and wounded four in a clash Wednesday in Israeli-occupied southern Lebanon. Hezbollah took responsibility for the attack.
