Quarterback Steve Beuerlein, backup to Carolina starter Kerry Collins, has been sacked in his previous tour of duties with the Raiders and Cowboys by Packer defensive lineman Reggie White.
“The thing about Reggie White is that he doesn’t hit you any harder than the other defensive linemen in this league,” Beuerlein said. “Just more often.”

The Panthers released wide receiver Don Beebe last February because he was bothered by sore ribs and could not demonstrate his value to the team. Beebe now plays for the Green Bay Packers.
“Are there any hard feelings?” Beebe said. “They actually did me a favor. This is class; they could have let me come into training camp and then cut me. They gave me a chance to find another team.”

Ron Wolf, general manager of the Packers, was an executive with Tampa Bay when the Buccaneers joined the league as an expansion team and lost their first 26 games.
“What they [the Panthers] have accomplished is remarkable,” Wolf said. “It shows a new day is dawning in the NFL. A lot of the old axioms no longer apply.”
