WESTLAKE — Ankle injuries played a big role in the Marmonte League boys’ basketball game between Westlake and Camarillo high schools Wednesday night.
Westlake guard Jake Stewart, playing his first game in a month since suffering a sprained ankle, scored 24 points to lead the Warriors to a 74-59 victory at Westlake.
Camarillo, meanwhile, played its first game without shooting guard Joe Borchard, who tore ankle ligaments in practice and may miss the rest of the season. Borchard, who was averaging 12.8 points, is a three-sport standout who has committed to play football and baseball at Stanford.
Joey Cuppari added 20 points for Westlake (8-6, 1-2 in league). Justin Beach led Camarillo (8-5, 1-2) with 28 points.
