U.S. Wants Envoy to Face Crash Probe

U.S. officials tried to halt the expected secret departure from the U.S. of a foreign diplomat involved in a high-speed car accident that took the life of a 16-year old girl. Protected by diplomatic immunity, Republic of Georgia envoy Gueorgui Makharadze may return home before the weekend, said the officials. Without immunity, prosecutors said Makharadze would face charges from negligent homicide to second-degree murder.
