Laker update--Byron Scott, shooting 53.5% overall and 60% on three-point baskets the last seven games, should return tonight after sitting out Wednesday’s victory over Charlotte because of flu. That game also provided another step in Jerome Kersey’s recovery from the same bug. He had made two of 14 from the field the first two games back and then played 23 minutes in the third, but against the Hornets showed increased stamina by playing a key role in holding Glen Rice to eight baskets in 23 shots.

Heat update--Miami is giving up 86.9 points a game and has not let an opponent break triple figures in 10 games. Only three of those could even reach 90 in regulation. The 14-game road winning streak turned into consecutive losses at Utah and Seattle, but the Heat responded Wednesday by winning at Portland. Tim Hardaway has scored 28 points in each of the last two games. Hardaway averages 19.6 points and 7.6 assists.
