Bankruptcy Spree

* Re “Personal Bankruptcy Spree: Let’s Sober Up and Reform,” editorial, Jan. 3: As a landlord who has his share of experiences with tenants declaring bankruptcy during the eviction process, I miss in your editorial an important fact. It seems to me that more and more people make a deliberate business decision to declare bankruptcy, defrauding the other guy of the fruit of his labor. By so doing they are the parasites of society, gracefully supported by the judicial system.

Bankruptcy courts are a wonderful money machine. Federal judges have the power to throw out bankruptcy cases when they suspect fraud. My experience has shown they could not care less.
