Islanders’ Pilon Is Suspended

New York Islander defenseman Rich Pilon was suspended by the league on Saturday after receiving a match penalty during Friday night’s game for slashing Pittsburgh’s Mario Lemieux.
Pilon sat out Saturday night’s game at Tampa Bay and will have a hearing on Monday.

Detroit Red Wing right winger Darren McCarty, sidelined since Jan. 3, will undergo surgery Monday on his ailing right hand.
