Ticketless Airline Travel Soared in 1996

Ticketless airline travel took off last year, with 70% of U.S. travel agents saying they provided the service versus 53% the year before, according to a survey by the American Society of Travel Agents.
“It’s absolutely a jump,” ASTA spokesman Steve Loucks said. “There may be a time [coming] that a relatively small percentage of bookings are made with actual tickets in hand.”
