Fitch Offers Williams Advice

Coach Bill Fitch believes free-agent center Brian Williams, who reportedly underwent knee surgery last fall, should sit out this season.
“If I were advising him, I’d advise him to get good health and then show everybody next season,” Fitch said. “Everybody, including us, should take a look at him then.”

If the season ended today, the Clippers would qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 1992-93.
“I don’t know whether we are [a playoff team] or not,” Fitch said. “The West is giving us a chance, but if the Spurs get [injured center David Robinson] back, you look at how much better they’re going to be.
“What we’ve got to do is just keep on keeping on and hope these young kids get better and get confidence with winning.”
