LaFrentz Leads the Way as Kansas Routs Iowa State

Native Iowan Raef LaFrentz had 10 of his 16 points in the second half for top-ranked Kansas and the unbeaten Jayhawks beat No. 8 Iowa State, 80-67, Monday night at Lawrence, Kan.
Kansas, 17-0 overall and 4-0 in the Big 12, had a 17-4 run to finish the first half and held off the Cyclones (11-2, 2-1) throughout the second half.
Shawn Bankhead led Iowa State with 15 points.
No. 13 Duke 84, Campbell 59--Roshown McLeod scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Blue Devils (12-4) held Campbell (5-8) to one basket over the first 11 minutes at Durham, N.C.
No. 19 Boston College 81, Georgetown 74--Antonio Granger scored 19 points as the Eagles (11-2, 6-1) extended their best Big East start at Newton, Mass.
The Hoyas (10-5, 3-4) have lost four of their last six.
BIG WEST CONFERENCE
Cal-State Fullerton 78, Long Beach State 75--Sparked by John Williams’ 25 points and Chris Dade’s 22, the Titans (8-4, 1-1) ended a string of seven consecutive losses to Long Beach State (5-8, 1-2) in a Big West game before 1,632 in Titan Gym.
OTHER GAMES
Marc Jackson scored 14 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in leading Temple (7-4, 2-1) to a 75-50 victory over Dayton (7-6, 1-3) in an Atlantic 10 game at Philadelphia. . . . Jeff Harris scored 18 points and St. Louis (6-8) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 56-52 non-conference victory over Southern Utah (4-11) at St. Louis.
College Basketball Notes
USC Coach Henry Bibby said Monday that forward Jaha Wilson was suspended for last Saturday’s game at Stanford because he walked out of a team meeting. “We talked about it Friday morning and I told him that he would not practice and would not play in the game on Saturday,” Bibby said. . . . Forward Lester Earl, dismissed from the LSU basketball team earlier this month for a violation of team rules, has decided to attend Kansas and said he will begin classes Wednesday. . . . A Charlottesville, Va., circuit court judge acquitted Virginia basketball player Harold Deane of resisting arrest.
