Shopping Center Remodeling Job Is Set for Spring

Construction on the city-approved remodel of Ocean View Plaza will begin this spring and should be completed in six months, a spokesman for the shopping center said recently.
Scott McPherson, a vice president of M & H Realty Partners, owners of the 192,000-square-foot center on Camino de los Mares, said his company will start the project as soon as the current tenants are relocated.
McPherson said only the three-story section of the center, which covers about 50,000 square feet and backs up to the Interstate 5, will be remodeled.
As it is now configured, the three-story section, which includes a subterranean first floor, has been difficult to lease, he said.
The project also will include a redesign of the parking lot at the north entrance to the center.
“It’s a poor design now,” McPherson said. “It won’t have a stop sign--and a three-way stop--that dumps right into parallel parking.”
McPherson said company policy prevented him from revealing the estimated cost of the project.
