Recycling bins that some called unsightly are being moved from the front parking lot of the Ralphs supermarket downtown to the rear, the City Council said.
The council reached its new agreement with Mobile Recycling, which operates the recycling site. The bins had been in plain view at the intersection of Walker Street and La Palma Avenue.
Ralph Orsino, Mobile’s general manager, told the council that new signs will direct motorists to the relocated collection bins. He also said there is ample room behind the grocery store for cars to turn around.
Residents, as well as some council members, had complained about the unsightly bins.
