LAGUNA BEACH — A three-car pileup Wednesday left two women injured and forced authorities to shut down Laguna Canyon Road during the evening commute.
About 6 p.m., a woman driving in the area of Laguna Canyon and Castle Rock roads apparently rear-ended another car and pushed it into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a pickup truck, police investigator Jason Kravetz said.
“We’re not sure about what happened yet, because we haven’t talked to everyone involved,” Kravetz said.
Two women suffered serious injuries and were taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, police said. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Authorities clearing the accident shut down Laguna Canyon Road between El Toro Road and Canyon Acres Drive for more than an hour, creating havoc for evening commuters.
