Bomb Blast, Clash With Rebels Kill 24

A bomb in a busy used-car market outside of Algiers killed at least 12 people, hours after security forces killed a dozen Muslim militants in the capital. The blast in Boufarik, about 15 miles southwest of Algiers, also injured several dozen people, Algerian radio reported. The weekly market draws crowds of people searching for hard-to-find parts. Earlier, security forces clashed with a dozen armed Muslim militants holed up in Algiers’ ancient Casbah district, killing the entire group, said officials who requested anonymity.
