Ocean View Takes Care of Westminster

Anna Lembke had 20 points to help Ocean View beat Westminster, 61-51, in a Golden West League girls’ basketball game Thursday at Westminster.

Lembke, a 6-foot-1 junior forward, also had five steals and five rebounds for Ocean View (15-4, 4-0), which shared the league title last season with Westminster.

Jennifer Tuiolosega had 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Ocean View.

Westminster is 12-5, 3-1.

In another league game:

Rosary 75, Santa Ana 34--Sarah Belavic had 13 points, seven assists and six steals for Rosary (8-10, 3-1), which led, 26-6, after one quarter.

In the Century League:

Villa Park 53, Santa Ana Valley 42--Missy Bynon scored 20 points for Villa Park, which outscored the Falcons, 19-7, in the third quarter.

Canyon 48, Orange 25--Sarah Mohkami had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals for Canyon (11-7, 2-1).

Foothill 40, El Modena 37--Rebekah Cole scored 11 points and Kerry Brunansky had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Foothill (11-5, 3-0).

In the Empire league:

El Dorado 49, Loara 40--Jamie Nebeker had 23 points and eight rebounds to lead El Dorado (9-7, 2-0).

Cypress 60, Kennedy 38--Jennifer Laster had 17 points and eight rebounds and Lyndsay Weaver scored 12 points for Cypress (12-6, 1-1).

Century 53, Katella 26--Aprile Powell scored 17 of her 25 points in the first half and had 14 rebounds for visiting Century (12-6, 2-0).

In the Freeway League:

Troy 70, Buena Park 11--Heidi Hardeman scored 26 to lead Troy (14-3, 3-0). Tammy Yonamine had 10 points, nine assists, five steals, and four rebounds also for Troy.

La Habra 45, Fullerton 32--Nori McCrystal had 16 points and 14 rebounds and Morgan Morris had 16 points and 11 rebounds for host La Habra (10-9, 2-1).

Sonora 60, Sunny Hills 45--Sarah Fister scored 25 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for Sonora (10-7, 3-0). Jennifer Hild scored 10 points for Sunny Hills (1-13).

In the Orange League:

Valencia 47, Savanna 43--Valencia (8-9, 2-0) fell behind 21-18 at halftime, but battled back to outscore Savanna (4-12, 1-1), 29-22, in the second half. Reychel DeLeon scored 13 points and Heather Hoppe scored 11 for Valencia. Cristina Aquino scored 13 points for Savanna.

Magnolia 45, Anaheim 37--Stacy Tewell scored 16 points for visiting Magnolia (2-13, 1-1).

Brea Olinda 96, Western 37--Marissa Bradley and Jennifer Saari each scored 20 points for visiting Brea.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 54, University 32--Mandy Mayfield scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Laguna Hills (14-3, 2-0). Tamara Inoue also scored 10 points for the Hawks. Lyz Day scored 12 points and Geri Armendariz scored 11 for University (8-8, 0-2).

Aliso Niguel 48, Laguna Beach 32--Aliso Niguel (12-4, 1-1) outscored Laguna Beach (1-1), 32-13, in the second and third quarters. Brooke Hyman scored 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for Aliso Niguel. April Chambers scored 18 points for Laguna Beach.

In the Sea View League:

Santa Margarita 56, El Toro 47--Santa Margarita trailed by 12 at halftime, but outscored visiting El Toro, 38-17, in the second half. Daniell Bennett had three three-pointers in the second half and Kate Toman scored seven points in the third quarter for the Eagles (14-5, 2-1).

Newport Harbor 90, Corona del Mar 37--M.E. Clayton scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Newport Harbor (9-7, 2-1). Breanna Badorek also scored 16 points for the Sailors. Lindsay Warmington scored 23 points for Corona del Mar (3-10, 0-2).

Woodbridge 80, Irvine 55--Krissy Duperron scored 23 points for third-ranked Woodbridge (12-3, 3-0). Kathy Duperron and Nicole Roberts each scored 13 points for Warriors. Lauren O’Hara scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Myra Hardeman scored 13 points for Irvine (9-8, 1-2).
