A Ventura man who had been in a coma since Monday, when he stepped out of a moving vehicle, died Thursday at Ventura County Medical Center, a coroner’s spokesman said.
Kae Hun Ko, 42, was riding in a Mazda minivan driven by a friend shortly after midnight Sunday when he stepped out of the vehicle, which was traveling about 40 mph.
Ko, who was intoxicated, had been demanding that the van driver--Sung Ho Jo--let him out of the car, but the driver would not stop, said Jim Wingate, a deputy coroner.
When Ko stepped out of the moving vehicle, he rolled out onto the street and struck his head, Wingate said.
Doctors at Ventura County Medical Center declared Ko brain-dead Thursday and removed him from life support, Wingate said.
Ko is survived by his wife.
