Refund Helps Ease Packer Fan’s Pain

Believe it or not, the check was in the mail.

Doug Rose of San Diego received a check for $416 this week from a Texas ticket broker, reimbursement for expenses incurred on a trip to Green Bay, where he ended up watching the Packers beat the Carolina Panthers last Sunday on a television set in the parking lot at Lambeau Field.

His ticket wasn’t there.

“Thirty years I’ve been waiting for them to get back to the Super Bowl, and that’s as close as I got,” said Rose, who grew up a Packer fan in Canoga Park.

Rose subscribes to the Green Bay Press-Gazette during the football season, and when he saw an ad for Ticket City, offering seats for the NFC championship game, he called an 800 number and gave his credit card number. Rose was told the $450 ticket--face price $48--would be at the will call window.

But when Rose got there, no ticket. Ticket City had been stiffed on promised tickets.

So Rose watched the game with some new-found friends in the parking lot and then, upon returning to San Diego, he set about recovering his expenses from Ticket City.
