Laker update--They had mostly been able to dodge real troubles despite being the worst free-throw shooting team in the league, but it has started to catch up with the Lakers. Coach Del Harris traces three of their last four losses to struggles from the line, most recently Thursday’s four-point loss to the Trail Blazers that included 17 misses. Byron Scott continues to rank among the league leaders in three-point percentage, but said he will decline an invitation to participate in the shooting contest at All-Star weekend, if one comes. He wants to spend the break with his wife celebrating their anniversary.

Piston update--Trade rumors continue to swirl around Stacey Augmon. If no deal gets done, he’ll probably go on the injured list rather than be brought back by Coach Doug Collins, who threw him out of practice last week in what seemed to be a final straw. Augmon isn’t on the trip, supposedly because he has flu.
