On the eve of this crucial game the Bruins, who have won 17 consecutive conference games at Pauley Pavilion, got a rare chance to reminisce with John Wooden. He went into the locker room Friday evening for a brief question-and-answer session with the team, his first such meeting in several years. “They asked questions like, what was his favorite national championship team, or how he would discipline his players,” said interim Coach Steve Lavin, who asked Wooden for the visit when he learned Wooden would be on campus. “Once he started talking, he was right back in his element. It was special.” Bruin swingman Kris Johnson, who was held out of the Arizona State victory Thursday because of an injured right ankle, is expected to play. Also, Arizona’s Miles Simon, who missed 11 games because of academic problems, should start for the first time this season, replacing either Jason Terry or Mike Bibby.
