Dashing Folly Picks Up Slew of Annual Awards

CYPRESS — Dashing Folly, who culminated her unbeaten 3-year-old season with a victory in the Grade 1 Champion Of Champions at the Los Alamitos race course, was named the 1996 American Quarter Horse Racing Assn. World Champion.
Dashing Folly won all 10 of her races in 1996, including seven stakes races at Los Alamitos. In addition to winning the Champion Of Champions on Dec. 22, Dashing Folly also was named the 3-year-old champion and 3-year-old champion filly.
She is trained by Donna McArthur and owned by Jaramar Ltd.
The champion jockey award went to Eddie Garcia of Buena Park; Spencer Childers was voted champion owner. Childers’ top horse, Uncas, was voted the champion 2-year-old gelding after winning the Ed Burke and Governor’s Cup futurities at Los Alamitos. Other local horses earning national honors were IB Quick, who was voted the champion aged gelding, and Sign It Super, who was voted the champion distance horse.
