Santiago Rallies to Give Pacifica Its First League Loss

Trailing by four points after three quarters, Santiago rallied to hand Pacifica its first Garden Grove League loss, 44-41, in a girls’ basketball game Friday at Santiago High.
Stacey Trujillo scored 16 points, Erica Pilkington had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Sega Asiata had 19 rebounds for Santiago (9-8, 2-2 in league), which outscored Pacifica in the fourth quarter, 17-10.
Jaymee Pendergast scored 16 points for Pacifica (11-6, 4-1).
In other Garden Grove League games:
Garden Grove 49, La Quinta 45--Katie Werdel had 11 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead Garden Grove (6-12, 2-2). Lorena Davis scored 12 for the Argonauts.
Rancho Alamitos 48, Los Amigos 22--Eurydyka Ciejka scored 14 points and Araceli Hernandez scored 12 for Rancho Alamitos (7-10, 4-1). Los Amigos is 0-13, 0-4.
In the Academy league:
Capistrano Valley Christian 62, Liberty Christian 15--Gini Carney had 15 points and eight steals for Capistrano Valley Christian (11-5, 3-0). Vanessa Lindsay had four points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
Connelly 44, Fairmont 32--Ruth Lazzari scored 14 and Jamie Poon had 13 for Connelly (8-5, 3-0). Katy Barstow scored 12 for Fairmont (7-5, 1-2).
In the Olympic League:
Calvary Chapel 57, Whittier Christian 34--Christy Ring had 24 points and six assists or Calvary Chapel (14-6, 2-1). Leslie Morton had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
Calvary Chapel limited Whittier Christian (0-3 in league) to 17 points in the first three quarters.
