SOLD OUT

Your article about attendance at L.A. Opera was very misleading (The Year in Review, Dec. 29).
We did indeed sell out two performances of “Cosi fan tutte.” But then we also sold out six performances of “Madama Butterfly,” six performances of “Pagliacci,” four (not two) “Norma” performances and seven performances of “Tosca.”
So far, in our 1996-97 season, we have had a 97% attendance rate at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, which seats 3,100.
