March, Celebration to Mark King Holiday

Martin Luther King Jr. will be remembered Monday with a march and cultural celebration in downtown Oxnard. This year’s theme is “Working Together, Young and Old, For the Dream.”
The 11th annual celebration will begin at 8 a.m. as community leaders, elected officials and clergy gather for prayer at Plaza Park at 5th and C streets. A freedom march from the park to the Oxnard Performing Arts Center begins at 8:15 a.m. Transportation from the arts center to the park will be provided after the march.
The keynote speaker for the 9 a.m. program at the arts center will be John Hill, director of the Office of Affirmative Action Compliance in Los Angeles. The program includes scripture readings, gospel music and youth speakers.
Admission is $3.
