Oseguera’s Shot in Overtime Gives Irvine the Victory

Leticia Oseguera made a 12-footer along the baseline as time ran out to give UC Irvine a 67-65 overtime victory over UC Santa Barbara in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Sunday.
Oseguera finished with 15 points and also had a game-high 14 rebounds. It was her seventh double-double of the season. UC Irvine’s Shannon Anders scored 16 points, tying her career high at the school.
Megan Stafford had 11 points and eight assists for UC Irvine (8-7, 3-1 in conference).
Amy Smith had 18 points and nine rebounds for UC Santa Barbara (10-5, 3-1). It was Smith’s 11-footer with 53 seconds left that tied it, 56-56, forcing the overtime.
The game was played in front of 597 spectators, a record for a home game for the UC Irvine women’s team.
In other conference games:
Long Beach State 71, Pacific 58--Kesha Wade made eight of 11 shots from the field and finished with a game-high 19 points for host Long Beach State (6-9, 3-1). Adara Newidouski, Toby Metoyer (eight rebounds) and Ember Brown each had 13 for Long Beach.
Sarah Davis had six points and five assists for Long Beach.
Eden Palacio had 15 for Pacific (3-12, 2-2).
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 86, Cal State Fullerton 73--Dee Braxton scored a game-high 24 points and got 11 rebounds for host Cal State Fullerton (5-9, 0-4), which has lost eight in a row.
Stephanie Osorio had 19 points, including making six of 10 three-pointers, for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (2-13, 1-3). The Mustangs made nine of 15 three-pointers and Cal State Fullerton missed all seven of its attempts.
