Service Employees Union Elects Officers

Steve Wood has been elected to a fifth term as president of the Local 998 Board of Directors of the Service Employees International Union.
Wood, a Ventura County planner, represents Local 998’s Professional Unit.
The union represents more than 4,000 public service employees in the county of Ventura; the cities of Ventura, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley; and various special districts.
Other elected officers for 1997 are Doris Lucas, first vice president, representing Thousand Oaks city employees; Rupert Oropeza, second vice president, city of Ventura; Thomas Johnston, secretary, Supervisory Unit; Edgar “Mac” McLemore, treasurer, city of Simi Valley; and Elzie S. Daniel, past president, Labor and Maintenance.
Other board members for 1997 are Joe Canchola, Technical Unit; Renee Evans, Area Housing Unit; Ron Hall, Appraisers Unit; David Hartsuck, city of Oxnard; La Vern Hoffman, Engineers Unit; Brian Hunt, Ventura Regional Sanitation District; Bill Knapp, Thousand Oaks Management Assn.; Darrel Moon, Oxnard Harbor District; Francis F. McElroy, Retirees Chapter; Sylvia Quinn, Public Social Services Agency, and Cruz Velasco, Administrative Support.
