300 Kids Will Present ‘Astounding’ Science

About 300 elementary students will present their science projects at the 10th annual “Astounding Inventions of the Future” fair Saturday at Irvine Valley College. The public is invited to view the handmade inventions from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

The fair will be in the college’s Computer Science and Technologies Building, the Physical Sciences Building and the campus courtyard. Irvine Valley College is at 5500 Irvine Center Drive.

An awards ceremony honoring the best inventions will begin at 2:30 p.m. Projects will be judged on their originality, usefulness, research and both written and pictorial presentation.

Participating students are in kindergarten through eighth grade at Irvine, Tustin and Laguna Beach school districts.

Motorola MOS 10 and Rockwell International will award a total of $3,800 in savings bonds to first- and second-place winners. Winners also will become eligible to participate in state and national science fairs.
