Community Group Adopts a New Name

The Panorama City Neighborhood Assn., a coalition of business people, property owners and residents who since 1993 have been working to improve the northeast Valley community, have changed the organization’s name to the Panorama City Revitalization Assn.
“We feel the new name more accurately represents what the organization is about,” said Leslie Yamashita, a spokeswoman for the group.
“With the old name, a lot of people just assumed we were homeowners. We are homeowners, but we are also a lot more than that.”
As the neighborhood association, the roughly 100-member group was praised by law enforcement officials for its efforts to reduce crime in Panorama City. Some members set up a graffiti busters team, and many volunteer for an areawide cleanup that the group sponsors quarterly.
In addition to the new name, Yamashita said, other organizational changes include scheduling the group’s Neighborhood Watch meetings on a quarterly rather than a monthly basis and reducing office hours.
“As before, our priority is to continually improve the public safety and the public image of Panorama City,” Yamashita said.
“We’ve got a solid group of people working to solve issues and bring the city back to life. That’s where the revitalization comes in,” she said.
