Injunction Given in Shakur Case
A federal judge has granted a permanent injunction barring Death Row Records and other companies from selling merchandise bearing the name or image of the late rapper Tupac Shakur.
The action was an extension of a preliminary injunction U.S. District Judge William Matthew Byrne granted Dec. 20 to Shakur’s mother, Afeni, and the rapper’s estate.
Byrne also ordered Death Row, manufacturer Cronies and seller Globex to make an accounting for all sales of Tupac Shakur merchandise sold during the final quarter of 1996, and to give 18% of the money to the court for Shakur’s estate by the end of January.
