Rodman Says He’s Sorry, Won’t Face Prosecution

Associated Press

Dennis Rodman called Tuesday to say he’s sorry.

The Chicago Bulls star apologized to Target Center cameraman Eugene Amos after agreeing to a $200,000 out-of-court settlement that also assured that Rodman would not face criminal prosecution for the kick.

“Both men are going to be going on with their lives,” said Minneapolis lawyer Andrew Luger, who represented Rodman. “They had a cordial conversation that I think allows both of them to move forward without any ill will at all.”

Denver’s Dale Ellis, the NBA’s all-time leader in three-point field goals made, and Chicago’s Steve Kerr, the all-time leader in three-point percentage, will head a field of eight in the All-Star shootout Feb. 8 at Cleveland.

Defending champion Tim Legler of Washington also will compete. Legler has not played this season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but he has resumed practicing and is expected to return to action this month.

Completing the field will be Terry Mills of Detroit, Sam Perkins of Seattle, Glen Rice of Charlotte, John Stockton of Utah and Walt Williams of Toronto.

Ellis, the 1989 winner, has made 1,362 three-point shots during his 14-year career. Kerr has shot 47.8% (462 of 967) from three-point range.
